The Career Success Team provides opportunities for students to cultivate and navigate their professional networks.

This engagement is facilitated through various delivery modes such as campus events (including career fairs, speed networking, and meet-and-greets), facilitating connections between students and alumni within desired career fields, and fostering mentorship experiences.

Interview Alumni

The career success team regularly connects students interested in learning more about particular career field with alumni working within that field. Interviews may be structured more formally with a pre-determined set of questions or be conducted more informally such as providing professional advice over coffee. Reach out to the Center for Career Success if you are interested in connecting with an alumni for an interview or serving as an alumni interviewee, career@longwood.edu.

Speed Networking

Alum advising students during speed networking

Speed networking is a structured networking event or activity designed to facilitate quick and efficient introductions and interactions between participants. Longwood students participating in a speed networking event have the opportunity to engage with a professional alumnus from a variety of career fields.

"I enjoyed getting to talk with different alumni and hearing their suggestions on what I should focus on during my college career."

Meet and Greets

Alum networking with students during Career Week

Students may participate in more causal networking events where they have the opportunity to engage with professionals and alumni from a variety of fields to more targeted networking events focused on particular majors and career fields. This format mimics professional networking events that students will encounter in real- world industry.

Professional Mentoring

The Career Success Team is currently working on developing a mentorship program that will provide the opportunity for students to engage with a professional alumni mentor through a series of meetings over the course of a semester. Professional mentors provide support and guidance to Longwood students for career related exploration, readiness, and success. Check back in Fall 2024 for more information!
