Is there a release of liability when I have a technician/RTA perform work on my computer?

When students permit a Help Desk technician or RTA to perform work on their personally owned computer they agree to the following release of liability:

  • I agree that I am fully responsible for backing up all data before repair or service. I release User Support Services from any claim or liability related to loss of data for any reason.
  • I understand that during the course of their work on my computer if a technician or RTA:
    • needs to permanently install software, such as antivirus and antispyware, I will be promptly notified
    • encounters illegal content, to include, but not limited to child pornography, University and/or law enforcement officials will be contacted.
  • I understand that if the technician or RTA is unable to resolve my issue, it is possible that my computer will need to be formatted and I will be responsible for providing any software needed to restore my machine.
