Is there a release of liability when I have a technician/RTA perform work on my computer?
When students permit a Help Desk technician or RTA to perform work on their personally owned computer they agree to the following release of liability:
- I agree that I am fully responsible for backing up all data before repair or service. I release User Support Services from any claim or liability related to loss of data for any reason.
- I understand that during the course of their work on my computer if a technician or RTA:
- needs to permanently install software, such as antivirus and antispyware, I will be promptly notified
- encounters illegal content, to include, but not limited to child pornography, University and/or law enforcement officials will be contacted.
- I understand that if the technician or RTA is unable to resolve my issue, it is possible that my computer will need to be formatted and I will be responsible for providing any software needed to restore my machine.
What is the LancerNet ID, what is it used for, and how do I get one?
Upon admittance, each student will automatically be assigned a LancerNet ID and password. This ID and password will be used to access the myLongwood portal, student web pages, network registration, etc. The LancerNet password must meet the complexity standards as defined in the University's Password Management Policy and is set to expire on a one hundred and twenty day cycle. All students should register with CYPHIR, a web based tool that will allow students to change their LancerNet password. CYPHIR is available at: https://tkts.longwood.edu/CYPHIR/cyphir_welcome.asp
What do I do if I my LancerNet password is not working and I have not registered with CYPHIR?
If your password is not working and you have not registered with CYPHIR, you will need to visit User Support Services with a photo ID to have a technician reset your password.
