With past assessment positions both at Longwood and Hampden-Sydney College, Onie coordinates the outcomes assessment, strategic planning, and professional development for the Student Affairs area. Additionally, she directly supports the work of the Associate Dean for Student Engagement who oversees the work in Citizen Leadership and Social Justice Education, University Operations and Student Activities, and Fraternity and Sorority Life. Having directed the Career Center at Whitman College in Walla Walla, WA in her earlier years, Onie enjoys co-teaching the "Project Success" class which addresses the personal, career, and leadership development of the Senior Mentor and sophomore participants.
Onie and her husband, Dr. Ray Brastow, a long-time LU professor and Senior Economist with the Federal Reserve Bank, have resided in Farmville since 1992 and have two young-adult aged children both living in Davidson/Charlotte area one working as a staff member for the Campus Outreach college ministry and the other as a high-school chemistry teacher.
