Speech, Language, Hearing, and Swallowing Services

Speech-Language Services

Services at SHLS are provided by Communication Sciences and Disorders graduate students. Students are supervised by faculty and clinical supervisors who are nationally certified, Commonwealth of Virginia licensed professionals with many years of experience and expertise. The clinical supervisors provide ongoing, direct supervision of all assessment and intervention activities.  Services are provided individually or in small groups.  Family members are encouraged to be involved.

Hearing Aid Services

  • Hearing aid evaluations, selection, fittings, management, follow-up, and repairs.

  • Several brands of hearing aids available.
  • One charge covers evaluation, selection, and fittings of the instruments, as well as follow-up visits and any repairs for two years.
  • Free batteries during the two-year warranty period.
  • Aural rehabilitation addressing all aspects of hearing aid use and care.
  • Hearing aid batteries and accessories.
  • Loaner hearing aid program (limited service).
  • Several brands of hearing aids available.
