Summer Literacy Institute 

Each summer Longwood hosts the Summer Literacy Institute, a two-day conference featuring:

• Fantastic professional development
• Award-winning authors
• Breakout sessions (elementary and secondary literacy topics)

Participants have the opportunity to share best practices with

• Fellow classroom teachers
• Literacy coaches
• Reading specialists
• School librarians

The Institute is sponsored by the Reading, Literacy and Learning and School Librarianship programs.

Virginia Association of School Librarians Conference

In fall 2016, more than 150 alumni and current graduate students in Longwood’s school librarianship program gathered at the Virginia Association of School Librarians annual conference in Norfolk. Alumni events are held each fall at the annual VAASL conference.
