Training
CERT & Emergency Medical Responder Training
- CERT course will start October 4th. It will be offered in the Student Union for seven weeks between the hours of 6:30 pm to 10 pm each Thursday night. No prerequisite required.
- Emergency Medical Responder course will start January 17th and run until May 2nd of 2013. Those that take this course can sit for the Commonwealth of Virginia test to become an EMR.
National Incident Management System (NIMS)
The National Incident Management System (NIMS) is designed and promulgated by FEMA under the jurisdiction of the Department of Homeland Security. The NIMS system is designed to form common terminology, planning, and incident command strategies between organizations across the United States. As an institution of higher education, we have the responsibility to arm ourselves with knowledge of policies and procedures in order to protect students, faculty, and staff.
Fire Extinguisher Training
Fire Extinguisher Training is available to anyone interested. These sessions will be offered when enough individuals have signed up and a group of at least ten has been formed. Sessions can be provided to departments or special groups.
