The Media Relations department serves as communication liaison with print, broadcast, and online/new media providing news outlets with timely press releases, media alerts, photographs, backgrounders, interviews, and “pitches” for potential feature stories.  Media relations is both proactive and reactive reaching out to the media with positive publicity while providing the media with accurate and timely information in times of crisis.  

The Media Relations department works closely with the campus community—faculty, staff, and students—to learn about and publicize newsworthy stories and maintains an online news bureau for dissemination and broadcast to the public and media.
