Sergeant R. Stuart Raybold joined the LUPD in 2013 as a shift supervisor. He is a native of Northern Virginia and began his Law Enforcement career with the Arlington County Police Department before moving to Prince Edward and working at Hampden Sydney College, then transferring to the Prince Edward County Sheriff’s Office where he worked for 11 years leaving as a field sergeant with the additional duty of supervision of their dispatch office. He remains a Sergeant with the PESO overseeing their grants programs, duties he also supervises here at LUPD. He is a graduate of both the Northern Virginia and Central Virginia Criminal Justice Academies and has attended multiple specialty courses. Sgt. Raybold holds a B.S. in Law Enforcement from George Mason University and an A.A.S. in Business Administration. He has further coursework toward a Masters in Public Administration, a degree he hopes to be able to complete in the future.
Sgt Raybold has always been active within his community, starting with Boy Scouts where he earned the Eagle Scout award and attended National and World Jamborees as a staff member. He was presented the Firefighter of the Year award by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors in 1989. He holds Firefighter I, II, III, Fire Officer I, Fire Instructor I, and EMT-B certifications along with multiple lesser classes. Currently he is a member of the Prince Edward Volunteer Rescue Squad.
