Sergeant John Johnson has been with the LUPD as part time officer since 1996 and full time since 2001. He attended Central Virginia Criminal Justice Academy in 2001 and is a certified operator for the Intoxilyzer 5000. He is one of two certified Firearms Instructors for the Longwood Police and instructs basic police recruits using the F.A.T.S (training simulator) portion of their training. Sgt. Johnson attended and completed the Basic Investigators Course and the Background Investigations Course (for future opportunities). He regularly attends training opportunities to enhance his duties as a police officer. Sgt. Johnson currently oversees the Longwood Police Department's Student Safety Organization (SSO).
Sgt. Johnson's other qualifications include his being a sworn deputy for the Prince Edward County Sheriff's Office, whom he assists regularly. He also assists the Central Virginia Criminal Justice Academy with firearms training when needed. He is a member of the Farmville Police Department Tactical Unit and is also a sworn deputy with Cumberland County Sheriff's Office.
