You’ve clicked on a link to a site that Longwood has determined to be potentially dangerous. The link is either going to an infected site or a phishing site (a site that is trying to capture information about you, such as your Longwood ID and password).
Don’t worry…it happens to the best of us!
Infected Sites
There are three common ways for a website to become infected:
• The site is created for malicious purposes.
• The site serves malicious content from advertisements.
• The site is infected through a security weakness. It’s possible that the site in question is a legitimate site that was unintentionally infected.
Phishing Sites
A phishing email usually asks for one or more of the following:
• Username
• Password
• PIN Numbers
• Credit Card Number
• Bank Account Number
• Social Security Number (SSN)
