Drop and Withdrawal Procedures

No online courses may be added by first-time registrants after the registration deadline due to the processing time required to get a Longwood ID and password.

Online courses must be dropped on or before 6 p.m. EST/EDT on the start date of the course.

After 6 p.m. EST/EDT on the start date, no online course can be dropped.  There are NO automatic drops for non-attendance or non-payment. You must actively drop the course using the My.Longwood system before the start date. (See below for details.)

No charges are waived or refunds given if the class is dropped after 6 p.m. on the start date of the online course.

Students may withdraw with no academic penalty during the first half of the course, but may not withdraw during the second half of the course except for medical or other non-academic emergencies.

Undergraduate students withdrawing from Longwood should contact the Dean's Office of their respective major to initiate the withdrawal process.  Undeclared students and non-degree seeking undergraduate students should contact the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.

Degree-seeking or non-degree seeking graduate students seeking to withdraw from an online course should follow off-campus policies and contact the Dean of Graduate & Extended Studies office.

Online attendance records kept automatically by Blackboard will be used to determine time of attendance for financial aid refund purposes.
