Email

While there are e-mail policies specific to each online course, Longwood University encourages faculty members to respond to e-mail messages in online courses in a timely fashion as stated in the course syllabus. See the specific course policies for more details.

Faculty members may elect not to respond to e-mail messages that they deem inappropriate according to their course guidelines.

Longwood e-mail accounts may be forwarded to another account. However, ALL Longwood communications go to the Longwood account. (WARNING: Contents of emails are no longer secure once they leave the Longwood system.)

To forward Longwood email to another account:
                            Log into Longwood web mail.
                            Choose Options
                            Choose Forwarding
                            Enter forwarding address
                            Choose Start

Students are responsible for checking the Longwood account regularly.

Students are advised to check Blackboard and e-mail every day to assure receipt of updated course information and communications.

Excessive e-mails make unreasonable time demands on both sender and recipient. Have a legitimate need before sending an email.

Instructors will answer email about:

1. Questions arising from difficulty in understanding course content

2. Course issues that are not appropriate for the Blackboard discussion forum or other public forum

Instructors may choose NOT to answer e-mail that

1.      Poses questions answered in the course information sections of the course site

2.      Lacks a subject line clearly stating the purpose of the e-mail

3.      Raises an inappropriate subject

Students are responsible for their assignments reaching their instructor
