How To Apply
The application deadline for the Fall 2016 class is December 1, 2015.
Incoming Freshmen Admission
Admission decisions for freshmen are competitive and are based primarily on the following factors: high school curriculum – level and types of courses; grades in core curriculum; cumulative grade point average; scores on the SAT or ACT; consistency and trends of grades and class rank, if available. Other factors such as co/extra-curricular activities; community service; personal statements; recommendations; special talents; leadership, etc. may also be considered. Primary emphasis, however, is placed on academic credentials.
In addition to the criteria listed above, the Nursing Admissions Committee places emphasis on grades in and level of math and science courses and experiences related to nursing. An advanced studies diploma is required for applicants from Virginia.
The program proceeds in a clearly defined pattern that cannot be easily modified. Therefore, all students will be expected to attend full time. Part time study will not be permitted.

Transfer Student Admission
Longwood’s Nursing Program is designed as a four-year program. Occasionally, there may be space for internal or external transfer students to enter as sophomores. However, there are no guarantees any space will be available. If space is available, the admissions process will be competitive. At this time, we do not believe any space will be available for transfers for Fall 2016. However, you may still submit an application by December 1, 2015.
Internal and external transfer students who wish to be considered for admission as freshmen, may also submit an application by December 1, 2015. However, please be aware that if admitted you will be enrolled at Longwood for four additional years of full-time study regardless of the number of credits you have already earned.
Our Fall 2015 nursing class has been filled. The application deadline for our Fall 2016 nursing class is December 1, 2015. The deadline for internal transfer students is December 1st annually.
Nursing applicants at their own expense are required to present evidence of a criminal background before entering the second level of the nursing program.
