Live Help FAQ

Who can use lulibrarian?

lulibrarian is intended primarily for Longwood students, faculty, and staff. We will answer questions from others as time and resources permit.

Will I need to wait to chat with the librarian?

We address questions on a first-come, first-served basis. If the Information Desk is busy or if there are other IM patrons, you may need to wait a few minutes. We will get to your question as quickly as we can. If you can’t wait, try our Ask a Librarian Email service.

Can I email lulibrarian at its AIM, Yahoo!, MSN, or GMAIL account?

No. We maintain accounts with these providers for IM only – we do not check the associated email accounts. Email questions should be directed to our Ask a Librarian Email service.

Are my communications with the librarian confidential?

The library does not retain a log of completed transactions. Portions of transactions may be retained and distributed within the library for training purposes. In such cases we will take due care to remove any element of the transaction that might lead to the personal identification of the patron. For more information, please see the Library's Virtual Reference Services Policy.
