Orientation Students

Photo Submission

Welcome to Longwood!

All Longwood University students, Faculty and Staff are required to have an ID card.  Our ID card is called the Lancer Card and is used for many important services such as building access, meal plan and Lancer CA$H purchases, admittance to Athletic events, and much more.

Orientation students are permitted, and encouraged, to submit a photo for their Lancer Card prior to attending Orientation.   Please submit your photo at least two business days prior to your Orientation session.  If you miss the deadline, or forget to import a photo, you will need to come to the Lancer Card Center during Orientation to have your picture taken in person.

Upon receipt of the photo, the  Lancer Card Center will then be able to print the ID and have it ready for you when you arrive.  This service will reduce the amount of time you need to stand in line and increase the amount of time you can spend learning more about Longwood's many offerings!

You can find a list of photo requirements on this link: Requirements for Submitting a Photo

Submitting a Photo

To submit a photo, you will need to follow the link to "Manage My Lancer Card".  Since you are likely a first-time user, you will need to create a username and password. **Please note that this account is not linked to your MyLongwood account or your email account.

Helpful hint:  You should read the instructions on the "First Time User" section of our website to assist you with setting up your account.  You will need your Longwood ID number (L number) and Longwood email address.  We recommend making your Username your Longwood email address to ensure that you receive email updates on your account.  **If you do not have your L number, you can log into mylongwood and get your personal information.

Once you have created a username and password, and you have confirmed your registration by following the instructions in the email that was sent, you can log in and submit your photo.

  • You will want to choose the "Submit ID Photo"option on the menu
  • Browse for the photo in your files that you will use (see photo requirements listed above)
  • Click upload
  • HINT:  If you click "upload" and nothing happens, then the photo is too large or not a jpg.  Try resizing and resubmitting.

Once your photo is submitted you should see the image appear in a box on the screen.  You are given the option to Preview your Lancer Card.  Please review your photo.  If your photo does fit in the image box, and include your entire head and shoulders, you will need to re-size the photo and resubmit.

If nothing happens once you hit submit, then the photo is too large and the system will not accept it.  You will need to resize it and resubmit it or choose another photo.

Once you have submitted a proper photo, you should receive an email in a few days letting you know if the photo was approved or if it needs to be altered and resubmitted.  You can now just wait until your Orientation day to come and retrieve your Lancer Card.  Please rembember to bring a valid photo ID.
