Honors Student Selected for TFA Education Program
19 January 2011
Becca Franklin (Class of 2011) has been accepted as a teacher in the Teach for America (TFA) program. As stated on the TFA website, "Teach for America seeks to enlist our nation's most promising future leaders in the movement to eliminate educational inequity--the reality that where a child is born determines the quality of his or her education and life prospects." In the fall, Franklin will accept the position of teaching special education in Alabama's Black Belt Region. In a letter to a Longwood professor, she writes, "Thank you so much for introducing me to the [TFA] program and pushing me to present the topic at the honors [conference.]" For more information on this program, visit the TFA website.
