March 30, 2013
Jessica Popp, a master's candidate in Longwood's Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSDS) program teamed up with Katie Robertson, a 2010 graduate of the CSDS master's program, to offer a presentation about Animal Assisted Therapy at this spring's Speech-Language-Hearing Association Conference (SHAV) that was held from March 21-23, 2013 in Richmond, Virginia. As part of her master's thesis, Jessica surveyed speech-language pathologists about their use of and views about animal-assisted therapy. Katie, who is a speech-language pathologist in Loudoun County Public Schools, shared her work in the field using a bearded lizard with some of her students.
