In addition to scholarships, students who file a FAFSA are also considered for additional need-based aid. These can include grants, loans and work-study. 


Freshman Applicants

Merit Scholarships

Longwood recognizes and rewards outstanding academic achievement, strong leadership and good citizenship. Students earning a GPA of 3.0 and higher are eligible to receive merit scholarships. Priority consideration is given to students who apply by Dec. 1. These annual awards are renewable for all four years for those that meet the renewal criteria.

Lancer Distinction Award 3.0 - 3.24 GPA $1,000 - $2,000 Up to $1,000
Cormier Honors College Scholarship Students accepted into the Cormier Honors College may receive additional scholarships, including two full rides, also renewable for four years.

Transfer Applicants

Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Scholarship

There are between one and ten $1,000 renewable scholarships available each fall for Phi Theta Kappa members. Availability depends on the number of renewed scholarships. Selection criteria are based upon merit and need. To apply, please email the Financial Aid office to request an application form: finaid@longwood.edu
