English & Modern Languages
English Undergraduate
Students who major in English at Longwood University enroll in a series of courses which explore all of the historical and cultural periods of British and American literature.
Concentrations include:
- Rhetoric and Professional Writing
- Creative Writing
- Secondary Licensure
Minors include English, Rhetoric and Professional Writing, Creative Writing, and Children's Literature.
English Graduate
The Department of English and Modern Languages offers programs leading to the degree of Master of Arts in English with the following concentrations:
- Creative Writing
- Education and Writing
- Literature
- 6-12 Initial Teaching Licensure
Modern Languages Undergraduate
The Modern Languages program offers majors in:
- French
- German
- Spanish
- Teaching English as a Second Language
Majors require a concentration in one of these four areas and completion of a second modern language through the intermediate level.
Minors include French, German, and Spanish.
Modern Languages Graduate
The Department of English and Modern Languages offers programs leading to the degree of Master of Science with the following concentrations:
- Education/C&I Specialist Spanish
- Education/Spanish or ESL PreK-12 Initial Licensure
