N. Laurence Robertson
Dean of Students
- B.A. in History with Political Science and English minors, Longwood College, Farmville, VA
- M.Ed. in Counseling Psychology with Concentration in Higher Education Administration, James Madison University, Harrisonburg, VA
Larry is involved professionally in American College Personnel Association (ACPA), American College and University Housing Officers International (ACUHO-i), and Virginia College and University Housing Officers (VACUHO). Larry has served as the Chief Housing Representative for VACUHO. He has also won Outstanding Staff Member and Outstanding Student Advisor awards at both Longwood and Virginia Tech. His work has also received recognition from the Southeastern Association of Housing Officers for meritorious service and in 2004, the Office of Student Programs at Virginia Tech established the Larry Robertson Emerging Professional Award to recognize his nine years of service to their residence life program. Larry has also served as an external reviewer for other institutions.
Administrative Assistant to Dean of Students
Tracey, a Farmville native, has worked for Longwood University since 2001. Prior to that, she was the Assistant Manager of the Longwood Bookstore, under the management of Barnes and Noble College Bookstores. Tracey recently completed the ASIST program (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) and has previously been recognized as Longwood’s Student Supervisor of the Year award, as well as by VACUHO for a Service Excellence Award. She has served as a member of Longwood’s Care Team since 2010.
Director of Commuter Life
- B.A. in Policial Science (concentration in American Politics) and Sociology minor, Christopher Newport University, Newport News, VA
- M.A. in Higher Education Administration, Villanova University, Villanova, PA
Jen Cox, Director of Commuter Life, began her tenure at Longwood University in June 2007. Over the years, Jen as taken on different positions including her current role as of June 2014. In addition to working with Commuter students, Jen also works with area landlords and Town officials which includes providing monthly Longwood updates to Town Council. In addition, Jen works closely with the sophomore class through 1840 (a multidepartment initiative to engage and educate Longwood University sophomores).
Jen has been involved in numerous professional organizations including American College Personnel Association (ACPA, American College and University Housing Officers International (ACUHO-I), and Virginia College and University Housing Officer (VACUHO). Jen has served as a member of the planning committee for the American College Personnel Association Convention in 2010 and most recently in 2015. In May 2015, Jen was awarded the staff Distinguished Contributions Award from Longwood University.
