President's Travel Club

Save the Date! Join President Reveley in Cuba: March 14-21, 2015

We are pleased to announce the first destination for our President’s Travel Club: Cuba!  Save the date and start planning now for our trip which will take place in March 2015!

The trip will offer a weeklong exploration of the remarkable art and architecture of Cuba, with privileged access to the country’s arts community. Immerse yourself in the island’s fascinating history and delight in its warm hospitality, during the many opportunities we will have to meet locals on this "people-to-people" program.

Begin in the vibrant capital of Havana, known for its colonial buildings, vintage American cars and thriving contemporary art scene. Accommodations are at the elegant Saratoga Hotel in the heart of atmospheric Old Havana. Explore this historic part of the city on a guided walk, focusing on Havana’s main squares, lined with Baroque and neoclassical buildings.

Attend an introductory lecture on contemporary Cuban reality by a former deputy minister for foreign affairs and meet leading local artists on visits to their studios and homes. Enjoy a curatorial tour of the Cuban art collection at the National Museum of Fine Arts and participate in a private director’s tour and reception at the Ceramics Museum. Meet professors and students at the Instituto Superior de Artes (ISA), Cuba’s highest-level school for the arts, on the grounds of what was once the Havana Country Club.

Traveling outside the city, we will visit Ernest Hemingway’s home, Finca La Vigía, in the hilltop village of San Francisco de Paula, and the nearby village of Cojímar, which inspired The Old Man and the Sea. Return to Havana for a private cocktail reception and dinner at the Ludwig Foundation for the Arts, hosted by its president and with leading local artists as guests.

We hope you will join President Reveley for this exceptional opportunity to explore the many celebrated arts of Cuba.
