Major Checklist

Physics majors and dual-degree students must complete the following:

  • PHYS 201 (4 credits); also satisfies Goal 6 requirement

Physics majors (not dual-degree students) must also complete:

Dual-degree students must complete the following:

  • Engineering credits at the transfer institution (7 credits)

Notes:

  • It is recommended that Physics/Pre-Engineering majors elect to take CMSC 204 - Introduction to Computer Programming (3 credits). Two additional MATH/CMSC course will allow PHYS/PENG majors to have a minor in MATH. Appropriate paper work must be filled out for a minor, see your academic advisor.
  • A Degree Application must be filled out one year prior to graduation. For Pre-Engineering majors this should be done during the junior year before transferring to another institution.
  • Pre-engineering majors must apply for acceptance to the school of their choice in the fall of the junior year
  • 120 credit hours are required to graduate.

Each student must pass computer proficiency tests. Students are strongly encouraged to satisfy this requirement by the end of their sophomore year. Proficiency tests are administered online.
