Call, email, or come by our office to set up an appointment with one of our GAs to have your resume or cover letter reviewed! Not a fan of making appointments? No worries! We also have walk-in hours available for students on MWF from 9am-11am and T/TH from 2pm-4pm. Any of our GAs would be happy to meet with you, and we hope to see you soon!

2. Practice your interview skills

Unsure how to answer the ‘tell me about yourself’ question during an interview? The Career Center is here to help! You can schedule a mock interview with our office, and we will help you prepare so that you will be ready to ace your interview!

3. Receive information about career fairs

Career fairs are a great way to network with employers in your career field and explore opportunities for different internships, job openings, and graduate school. At the Career Center, we can help you prepare any documents you may want to give to employers, such as your resume, as well as inform you what to expect at the career fair.

4. Get assistance while setting up a LinkedIn account

LinkedIn can be a useful tool to help you network with others and search for jobs. If you need some additional help setting up your account, the Career Office has some helpful tips to make your profile the best it can be!

5. Explore different career options

Unsure what you want to do after graduation? One of our Career Coaches would love to sit down with you and explore different career options. Our office can also help you find research internship opportunities, so that you can gain experience in your field and see if a job is the right fit for you. Similarly, our office can assist you while you prepare for graduate school, if that is your preferred route. We can explore different graduate programs together and review your personal statement for grad school applications. Whatever your career needs are, we are happy to help!

6. Our staff is willing and happy to help you

Everyone in our office wants to see you succeed! Thinking about applying for jobs can be a daunting task, but we are here to make it an easy process for you. We can answer any questions you may have as well as help you look for jobs and internships, prepare any necessary documents for the application process, and practice your interview skills!

7.Receive motivation to help you achieve your career goals

Need a pick-me-up? One of our amazing student staff members, Dorie, keeps our white-board up-to-date with beautiful pictures and inspirational quotes to help brighten students’ day. Similarly, we have words of motivation posted around the office and play-doh available for any student who needs a stress-reliever. You should also check out our Canine Career Wall! It features ADORABLE pictures of dogs featured with useful tips to help you achieve your career goals.

8. Learn how to utilize your alumni network

A great part about being a Lancer is you are a Lancer for life! Lancers are always looking for ways to help each other, so do not hesitate to reach out to a Longwood Alum. The Career Office is merged with the Office of Alumni Services to make it even easier to help current Lancers form connections with Longwood alumni. One way to connect with alumni in your field is to utilize Longwood’s professional communities for Education as well as Sales, Marketing, and Communications.
