5 Questions To Answer When Considering A Job Offer

By Ariella Coombs

If you’re considering whether or not to accept a job offer, there are a few things you need to think about before you make any moves. At this point in the hiring process, you should have a pretty good idea about the company you’re pursuing, but in order to make sure you know what you’re getting into, there are a few questions you should ask yourself.

There are five areas of a company you should evaluate before accepting a job offer: why it exists, how it leads, what makes it fun, who works there, and what makes it impressive. Having a basic understanding of these areas before saying yes to a job is very important because it can help you determine if it’s the right fit for you. The last thing you want to happen is to accept the job only to leave six months later because you can’t stand the company.

Whether you’ve earned a job offer or you’re still researching companies, you should ask yourself some important questions to determine if a company is the right place for you. Here are some things you should be thinking about at this point:

  • Do I believe in the mission of the company?
  • Do I respect the company leaders?
  • Will I be excited to go to work everyday?
  • Do I like the people I’ll be working with regularly?
  • Will I be proud to work for this company?

Answering these questions can help you determine if this is a company you seriously want to pursue or not. Obviously, the ideal result is to get five yeses out of this.

If you can’t answer these questions, you probably need to spend a little more time doing researching and talking to employees at the company. You want to be as informed as possible when you accept a job offer at a company so you avoid any surprises later.
