3 tips for pinpointing your career path after college

1. Identify the projects you enjoy.

What’s interesting to you? What excites you? What kinds of projects do you enjoy? Brainstorm a list of all of the projects you enjoy doing. This will allow you to get a sense of any trends or common themes when it comes to work.

2. Figure out your strengths.

What are you good at doing? What do people come to you for? Think about the skills and activities that come easily to you and write them down. Again, what are the common themes here?

3. Think about opportunities.

What industries are growing? What’s a problem that isn’t being solved yet? Identify what kinds of opportunities are available. Not all of them are obvious! Take some time to brainstorm what kinds of opportunities are available.

Breaking everything down into digestible chunks can make your life much easier when it comes to your career. When you understand each of these elements, and can find an intersection between them, you’ll be able to identify what kind of career path you should pursue after college.
