Maurice received his Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Saint Paul's College, Lawrenceville, Virginia. He earned his Master's in Public Administration from the Ohio State University and his endorsement in Secondary Administration from Longwood University.  He earned his Doctor of Divinity degree from Virginia Union University.

He has served as an adjunct professor at Virginia Union University in Richmond, Virginia and Southside Virginia Community College in Keysville, Virginia. Maurice served four years as Director of the Center for Black Enterprise in Richmond, Virginia. 

He has been a Coach, Dean of Students, a Principal, an Assistant Superintendent and Interim Superintendent. Currently he is a member of the Community Academy School Board in Charlottesville, Virginia where he serves as the Treasurer.
