THE LONGWOOD UNIVERSITY ALUMNI AWARDS

The alumni award program is a reflection on the history of Longwood University, as well as a singular tribute to the accomplishments of the honorees. The awards are named after the four men whose portraits are featured on the Rotunda dome paintings.

 1.  The William Henry Ruffner Alumni Award is the highest and most prestigious award bestowed by the Alumni Association.  It recognizes alumni who have achieved outstanding success and national distinction in both their personal and professional life-the embodiment of the Citizen Leader.

 2.  The Thomas Jefferson Professional Achievement Alumni Award recognizes alumni who have distinguished themselves as significant contributors to their profession, who stand above their peers, and who are recognized within their profession as leaders and role models for future generations of citizen leaders.

3.  The Jabez Lamar Monroe Curry Humanitarian Alumni Award honors alumni who, through their outstanding involvement and commitment, have enriched the lives of others and improved the welfare of their community. The award recognizes personal achievements and the humanitarian ideals that reflect a selfless dedication to service for the good of others.

4.  The Horace Mann Honorary Alumni Award is presented to individuals, who are not alumni, but have, however, given extraordinary service to Longwood University and who, through their deeds and actions, reflect the values of a true citizen leader.
