Admission Requirements

Freshman admission decisions are competitive and are based primarily on the following factors:

  • High school curriculum- level and types of courses
  • Grades in core curriculum (see courses listed below)
  • Cumulative GPA
  • GED scores- if applicable
  • Consistency and trends of grades
  • SAT, ACT, TOEFL or IELTS scores
  • Class rank- if available

Mid-ranges for enrolled freshmen:

  • GPA: 3.07 – 3.61
  • SAT: 930-1080
  • ACT: 19-24

 

Minimum High School Requirements include:

 

English 4 years
Math 3 years- Algebra I, Algebra II, & Geometry
Science 3 years- Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Physical Science, Earth Science (2 units must include a lab)
History/ Social Studies 3 years
Foreign Language 2 years of one foreign language (additional years of one language strongly recommended)
Health/ Physical Education 2 years
Fine or Practical Arts 1 year

The Advanced Studies Diploma (23 units) is preferred for students in Virginia.

Additional years of Math, Science and Foreign Language are strongly recommended.

The highest critical reading and math scores from the SAT are evaluated. The Writing score is not used in the admissions process. SAT II scores are not required for general admission.
