In the classroom or on Brock Commons, Longwood students live and learn in one of the most beautiful places in Virginia.

  • Distinctive Education
With the highest proportion of small classes taught by full-time professors of any Virginia public university, Longwood's strength is in its unique faculty-student connections and a democracy-focused Civitae Core Curriculum you won't find anywhere else.
  • Vibrant, Close-knit Community
The hallmark of life as a Lancer is its energy. With most students living on campus, ancient traditions like CHI Walks combine with D-I athletics and nearly 200 student-run clubs and organizations to make campus come alive and form great friendships for life.
  • Great American College Town
Farmville — America's oldest two-college town — is an hour's drive from Richmond and is energized by coffee shops, restaurants and shopping. Abundant recreational opportunities, including the 32-mile High Bridge Trail, are just steps from campus.

Lancers are champions on the field of play as well as the classroom! Both the men's and women's basketball teams make the NCAA Tournament in 2022, and men's basketball made it again in 2024—that's twice in three years! Our softball team has also spent the last decade dominating the Big South Conference!

Longwood’s picturesque campus in the heart of Virginia is home to a thriving community of citizen leaders who take part in time-honored and unique traditions during their time on campus.
