"Surfwise," a documentary film about legendary surfer Dorian "Doc" Paskowitz, will be shown Wednesday, Nov. 18

Surfwise, a documentary film about legendary surfer Dorian "Doc" Paskowitz and the nomadic lifestyle he forced his family to adopt, will be shown Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 7 p.m. in the Longwood Center for the Visual Arts lower level, in the General Education Film Series. After Paskowitz abandoned a successful medical practice in the 1950s to pursue his love of surfing, he, his wife and their nine children lived in a 24-foot camper on the beach. The New York Times has called the film "a wonderfully engaging look at love and the family and the relentless pursuit of happiness, personal meaning and perfect waves."
