About Call the Professor
In fall 2010 Longwood and WFLO (95.7 FM) launched Call the Professor, a radio call-in program that provides a forum for Longwood University faculty members to share their expertise and answer questions from the public.
Call the Professor airs once or twice a month on WFLO and serves as a source of timely and valuable information for WFLO listeners as well as a public service opportunity for Longwood faculty. Call the Professor programs are promoted in the Farmville Herald a week prior to the scheduled airdate.
"The Call The Professor program is a well-received addition to our Call Flo Radio Show which airs weekdays on both WFLO AM 870 and WFLO FM 95.7," said Francis Wood, general manager of WFLO. "As an interviewer, I am consistently impressed with the variety of topics and the quality of articles that are generated from the Longwood University faculty members. Listener feedback has been positive. The show is a great opportunity for the university to reach out to the community in a relaxed atmosphere."
Longwood faculty members who would like to be considered for Call the Professor should submit an abstract of their topic to Dr. Peggy Tarpley, chair of the Department of Education and Special Education in the College of Education and Human Services (tarpleypl@longwood.edu).
