Dr. Naomi Johnson, Lecturer in Communication Studies and Theatre, was a guest Dec. 18 on a program on Richmond radio station WRVA in which she discussed the growing use of product and brand inserts in teenage romance novels. In her dissertation (she earned a Ph.D. in communication studies from the University of North Carolina), she investigated the use of branded products in popular teen romance novels.
