Longwood Police Department plans training sessions on weapons of mass destruction

The Longwood University Police Department will be conducting training exercises with a number of local and regional partners June 25-27. The training will focus on responses to threats involving weapons of mass destruction.

A leader in developing regional training sessions, Longwood is partnering with local and state agencies as well as the 34th Civil Support Team of the Virginia National Guard. The teams will use Frazer dormitory as the training venue. The 34th Civil Support Team is based out of Fort Pickett and is equipped to handle biological, chemical and radiological threats.

The focus of the training will be to provide support and knowledge for the Longwood University Police Department, campus community and local public safety associates with awareness, accessibility and comprehension of threats.
