About 500 Longwood community members join attempt at breaking World Record
April 29, 2011
About 500 Longwood community members joined together this week for an attempt at breaking the Guinness World Record for the largest papier-mache sculpture. The final measurements of the giant beach ball were taken at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27 and will now be submitted to Guinness officials.
"Only time will tell whether or not we broke a record," said Josh Blakely, organizer of the event and area coordinator for Longwood's West Campus.
"With about 500 volunteers representing all areas of campus, this was truly a campus-wide effort and we are greatly appreciative of everyone's help."
The results from the Guinness World Record officials are expected in about two weeks.
