Richmond company owners to be Executive-in-Residence speakers at Longwood
January 27, 2010
Frank Qiu and Ting Xu
**NOTE: THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELED**
Frank Qiu and Ting Xu, the CEO and president of Evergreen Enterprises Inc. of Richmond, one of the leading designers, manufacturers and marketers of garden and home decoration products, will be Executive-in-Residence speakers Tuesday, Feb. 9, at 7 p.m. in Longwood University's Hiner Auditorium.
The husband and wife team, natives of Shanghai, China, began in 1991 when Xu and her parents created flags in her parents' Richmond garage to sell at the Virginia State Fair. Today the company offers more than 8,000 products and has a sales force covering all 50 states, serving more than 14,000 independent retailers and 200 large chains. Its products include flags, bird-related products, outdoor lighting, garden statutory, table top items, kitchen accessories, wall décor, and accent furniture.
Qiu, an assistant professor in a major think-tank in Shanghai before joining his then-fiancée in Virginia in 1987, was the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year for Virginia in 2000. Xu was a computer programmer for the Virginia Department of Health before Evergreen Enterprises was launched. Both have master's degrees.
The Executive-in-Residence Series is a public service of the College of Business & Economics and is co-sponsored by Barrett Capital Management LLC and SunTrust Bank.
