Future Nurses in Action
Welcome from the Nursing Department Chair
It is such a pleasure to welcome you to the Longwood University Nursing Program web site to learn about our Baccalaureate Nursing Program. Our nursing program is one of the newer programs in Virginia and is different than many programs in that nursing students enter directly into the Nursing Program as freshman at Longwood. Being accepted as nursing students in the Freshman year is unique….most schools accept nursing students as pre-nursing students, meaning that there is a separate application process to the nursing program. At Longwood, there is no wait or uncertainty after you arrive.
Our Fall 2014 nursing class has been filled. The application deadline for our Fall 2015 nursing class is December 1, 2014.
Accepted nursing students at their own expense are required to present evidence of a clear criminal background check upon entering year two of the program.

LAMP Grant Awarded to Longwood Nursing Program
Congratulations to Professor Davis, Professor Nunn, and Professor Williams for being awarded the LAMP Grant which will focus on research, investigating student perceptions, and satisfaction within the Nursing Program.
The research will focus on how student satisfaction impacts retention in hopes of creating a more meaningful learning experience that will directly impact student retention.
