Dean of Students
The Office of the Dean of Students provides programs, services, and referrals that support student success and foster the development of citizen leaders.
Our staff is available to answer questions, point students and families in the right direction to get the information they need, and serve as a single point of contact for students and their families in time of crisis.
The Dean of Students chairs the Care Team, a group of academic and student affairs partners, which identifies students that are struggling emotionally/socially and those whose decisions and practices impair their ability to fully engage as a student and member of the Longwood community.
This team develops appropriate interventions so that students can become connected to appropriate resources.
The Dean of Students collaborates with partners across campus to provide services and programs that foster involvement, promote responsible decision-making, and enhance student learning. The Dean of Students also oversees Residential and Commuter Life.
Residential and Commuter Life's (RCL) mission is to support living and learning environments which foster the development of the individual intellectually, personally, and socially.
Longwood's on campus housing options include a variety of traditional suite-style options on the main campus and a variety of apartment style accommodations located in campus managed communities within close proximity to campus.
Approximately 2900 students live in Longwood managed housing, and approximately 1600 commute to campus. RCL employs twelve masters-level professionals, two bachelors-level professionals, two administrative support staff members, and 200 student employees in a dynamic and changing environment.
We are here to assist all students and ensure that their time at Longwood is safe, productive, and balanced.
